Hoop Dreamz is a dynamic organization dedicated to fostering youth development through basketball and comprehensive support programs. Established in Baltimore, Maryland, with a reach extending to the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, Uganda, and Tanzania, Hoop Dreamz is driven by a mission to empower young people through sports, education, cultural exchange, and mentorship.

Rodney Carr

Founder and Executive Director

Rodney Carr brings over 25 years of experience in coaching, a strong background in telecommunications, and extensive community involvement. His journey includes founding the iCARRe Foundation, launching multiple community-focused initiatives, and co-owning Minuteman Press in Columbia, MD. Rodney’s leadership is characterized by his commitment to holistic youth development and cross-cultural engagement, demonstrated by his international work and successful ventures in various sectors.

Brandon Carr

Assistant Director

Brandon Carr supports the Executive Director in managing daily operations and program implementation. His role involves overseeing program logistics, coordinating with partners, and ensuring that the organization’s objectives are met efficiently. His background complements the strategic goals of Hoop Dreamz, providing a critical support structure for the Executive Director.

Mary Nakitende

Program Director (Uganda)

Mary Nakitende leads the organization’s initiatives in Uganda, overseeing local program implementation and community engagement. Her experience in youth development and understanding of the regional context make her an invaluable asset in tailoring programs to meet the specific needs of Ugandan youth.

Richard Mtambo

Program Director (Tanzania)

Richard Mtambo manages operations in Tanzania, focusing on program delivery and cultural adaptation. His role includes building local partnerships, managing program logistics, and ensuring that Hoop Dreamz’s objectives are aligned with the needs and interests of Tanzanian youth.

Vuoi Zahoro

Sports Director (Africa)

Vuai Zahoro oversees the sports-related aspects of our programs across Africa, ensuring that training and development initiatives are effectively implemented. His expertise in sports management and his connections within the African sports community are crucial for the successful execution of our programs on the continent.

The management team of Hoop Dreamz operates with a collaborative approach, integrating various expertise areas to achieve organizational goals. The Executive Director provides overall strategic direction and leadership, while the Assistant Director ensures operational efficiency. Program Directors in Uganda and Tanzania handle local program execution and community relationships, while the Sports Director coordinates sports initiatives across Africa. This structure allows for effective management of both local and international programs, ensuring that the organization’s mission and objectives are met.
